The pendant portion of this necklace was a originally sterling silver Edwardian stick pin that dates to around 1910. It is set with 10 eye-catching rose cut marcasites, and has beautiful detailing on the wings.
I have removed the pin stem, attached rings at the tail, wing & beak, added a heart charm dangle at the beak, and finished it with a vintage Italian fetter link chain.
The pendant portion of the necklace measures 0.98" from end to end, with a measurement of 0.88" from the pendant rings to the base of the heart dropper. The necklace measures a total of 16 & 7/8"" from end to end. This piece weighs 4.4 grams.
Condition of this piece is very good.
*** Having dealt in antique & vintage jewelry for over a decade now, I find myself with growing pile of pieces for repair. Unfortunately doing repairs, though a necessary part of my business, can become a dull task, so to allow a little fun & creativity in my days, I am upcycling and converting some of the old into new. This is one of those pieces.
I take pride in my work, so I have done my best to ensure clean & well detailed finishes to my pieces - both front and back. I provide multiple photographs so that the buyer can see the quality of workmanship that goes into each piece I construct. These aren't 'cut and paste pieces' - I intend for them to endure a lifetime of wear, with the hopes that they will eventually be passed down to the next generation - just as the treasured heirlooms they consist of were intended to be. ***
