Antique Art Deco 18K White Gold Filigree 0.25 Carat Diamond Solitaire Engagement Ring
Dates to the Art Deco era, circa 1925.
Crafted in solid 18K white gold, and hallmarked as such. Also bears a partial maker's mark, which I am unable to make out unfortunately. Lastly personally inscribed as follows - 'W.M. - M.B. 25/12 28" - clearly a Christmas engagement!
Gorgeous die cut design, with fine openwork sections in the shoulders, top, and bottom. Romantic swag patterns (a carry over from the Edwardian era) and tiny floral designs embellish this piece, with tiny flowers even continuing down the top and bottom of the shoulders and band. Set with a gorgeous clean & sparkling round-cut 4 mm diamond. It has an estimated weight of 0.25 carats, and although I am not able to grade diamonds, I am able to assure you that this is an excellent quality stone with great clarity.
The front of the ring measures 0.31" from top to bottom, with a band that narrows down to 0.05" at the very back. This ring weighs 2.6 grams and is presently a size 4.5.
Condition is very good, with nice clean crisp patterning overall still. (Many rings from this era become worn smooth with time, which detract from the beauty and value in my opinion.) The ring has definitely been sized smaller at some point in time, and could be enlarged by a size or two once more.
Gender: Female, Age Group: Adult, Color: White Gold, Size: 4.5
