Dates to the late Victorian era, circa 1890.
Crafted in solid 18K yellow gold. Not hallmarked, but carefully acid tested.
Egyptian winged Scarab motif, featuring a post-set hand-carved chrysoprase scarab, which is also carved on the backside with a warrior brandishing a sword or khopesh. The front of the brooch is intricately worked with tiny Etruscan cannonball and wirework appliqué wings, which are inlaid with cobalt blue enamel.
The brooch measures 1.52" from wing tip to wing tip, and 0.49" from top to bottom. This piece weighs 3.3 grams.
The back has the original antique C clasp and pin, which work perfectly.
Condition is very good, with no damages or repairs. (Some very slight bends to the pin stem.)
