Dates to the late Victorian era, circa 1895.
Crafted in solid 10K yellow gold. Not hallmarked, but carefully and thoroughly acid tested.
Fabulous snake motif, set with 43 tiny natural split seed pearls along the coil's of the snake's body. The head of the serpent is embellished with an Old European cut diamond of approximately 0.05 carats, which adds a little sparkle to this charmer. The snake's green eyes appear to be tiny little emeralds, but they are in fact tiny glass cabochons. Interestingly, the snake's mouth is hinged (though it does not move), and it has a tripled forked tongue!
This piece measures 0.92" from side to side, and 0.77" from top to bottom, and weighs 4.2 grams.
The back of the brooch has the original hammerhead C clasp and pin, as well as a small hook at the base for holding a watch (or charm, or what have you).
Condition is very good, with no damages or repairs.
