Dates to the late Edwardian, early Art Deco era, circa 1915.
Crafted in solid 10K carat yellow gold, and hallmarked as such upon the clasp.
Featuring a hand carved shell cameo of the Greek Goddess Demeter (Roman equivalent of Ceres), who was the Goddess of the Harvest. Surrounded by a bright yellow gold hand etched frame.
The brooch measures 1.28" by 1.02" (without the bail) and weighs 5.4 grams.
The back of the brooch has an early top locking clasp and pin, which work perfectly. It also features a fold-down bail, so that the piece can be worn upon a necklace chain.
Condition is very good, with no damages or repairs.
