This early 20th century bar pin features a rectangular hard stone cameo depicting a Roman Gladiator (I think). The carving is beautiful and the figure somewhat feminine so it could be the Greek goddess Athena. The design is very simple with each end of the bar coming to a sharp point. The early safety clasp has a button like slider which I've never come across before. While the majority of the piece is done in 14K (acid tested) yellow gold the top of the actual bar appears to be white gold which also tests as 14K. There are two chips in the black portion, one at the bottom right corner and a very small one on the left edge about midway up. Entire piece is 2 1/8 inches long with the cameo measuring 1/2 by 3/4 inch. Total weight for this piece is 7.2g.
