This victorian era cameo brooch is a carving of Aglaea, Euphrosyne and Thalia, daughters of Zeus according to Greek mythology. They are also known as Splendor, Mirth and Good Cheer or the Three Graces. The simple frame is most likely gold filled or possibly a low karat gold. The original tube hinge and C clasp have long ago been replaced with more modern findings. The color of the metal used to attach the updated findings is not an exact match to the rest of the frame but blends nicely. There are no cracks or chips to the shell. There is a small dark dot on the added metal that I have been unable to remove but the rest of the frame is in excellent condition. Brooch measures 1 5/8 inches by 2 inches.
