We have for sale a gorgeous watercolored etching in the style of an old botanical. This beautiful etching of the crown imperial is by contemporary artist Carolyn Cohen. This style is typical of Ms. Cohen's art: this is just one of several in this floral series. Her sense of detail and color of the old world botanicals is simply outstanding. The art is 9 3/4" x 7 3/4" with the frame size measuring 18 ½" x 16". The edition size is 50 along with 5 AP. She has titled, signed and numbered each etching in pencil. The art and frame is in excellent condition!
To help protect the art, mats, backing and hinging are acid free, plus the glass is conservation clear to block out 98% of the UV rays.
Bio: Born in New York City, Carolyn Cohen has explored the natural world in and around the metropolitan area, including numerous visits to the "forever wild" preserve of the Adirondack Mountains. Carolyn paints from live botanical specimens. Incorporating the traditions found in early botanical engravings and paintings. Her work is an expressive interpretation of horticultural authenticity. Ms. Cohen's formal education includes a B.A. from the City College of New York. Her training in art includes two years at the Greenwich House Pottery School, three years at the Brooklyn Museum Art School studying drawing, watercolor painting and printmaking and one year at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. She is especially indebted to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden as a place for learning and painting on location. For seventeen years, Carolyn worked at NYU as an admissions and financial aid officer before becoming a professional artist. A resident of Orlando since 1984, Carolyn Cohen is a founding member of the Florida Printmaker's Society, plus she is a member of American Society of Botanical Artists and the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators. Her work, which includes watercolors and hand painted original etchings are in several galleries and numerous private collections.
