Hedgehog Rose is a beautiful watercolored engraving which was created in 1819. Engraved along the bottom is J. Lindley Esq del, Pub by J. Ridgway 170 Piccadilly, Dec 1, 1819, L Watts, sc. Engraved in the upper right corner is the number 420.
The art is 8 x 5 inches. It has two acid free mats. The top mat has a faux suede finish. The glass is conservation clear. The frame has an ornate design and gold tone finish. The wood frame is 14 3/4 x 11 /34 inches.
This is from the Botanical Register which was started in 1815 by Sydenham Teast Edwards. It was published in London.
The art and frame are in wonderful condition, especially considering the age of the art. There is a very slight 1 inch crease in the paper through the wording at the bottom. This is barely visible. An image is included of the area.
This is the actual watercolored engraving from that time period and is not a reproduction or giclee print.
