For sale is a beautiful one-of-a-kind ceramic sculpture. “Water Spout” was created by contemporary ceramic artist Denise Romecki. This beautiful sculpture of a water spout measures 18 1/2″ high x 6″ x 6″. The piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or breakage. Denise informed us that a small piece of clay broke off inside while firing but this does not affect the integrity of the piece at all. This is the rattle you hear when turning this piece over. It has been signed on the bottom by the artist.
Bio: Denise Romecki, whose studio is in Columbus, is originally from Erie, PA. She received a BFA from The Ohio State University and has been exhibiting her work since 1978. She has participated in national and international exhibitions, winning numerous awards. Romecki teaches ceramics and sculpture at the Cultural Arts Center in Columbus, Ohio. The artist’s work has evolved from her love of the outdoors and the challenge of the creative process. She expresses an affinity for the Native American belief that all natural things have a spirit that deserves honor and respect. With current events that give meaning to words such as biodiversity and genetic engineering, Romecki’s hybrids represent an artistic interpretation of nature and science. The high degree of realism in her work is inspired by the animals of the Columbus Zoo and other zoological reserves. Romecki’s ceramic sculptures reflect the shapes and textures abundant in our natural environments. Sometimes serious and sometimes whimsical, the forms include “hybridized” plant or seed-like forms, inspired by human and animal figures.
