This is an exquisite hand-painted, one-of-a-kind porcelain item by Master China Painter, Margaret Surber. She has painted a beautiful still life, outlined in gold trim on white background with dandelions in bloom. The plate with two handles, trimmed with 24kt gold highlights, measures 16"x 11" and is signed near the bottom center. It has a green stamp on the bottom: Giraud;Limoges; France, circa 1920s. The condition of the platter is excellent with no chips, cracks or damage. Note: This porcelain is safe for use but it is strongly recommended that you do not put it in dishwasher.
Partial Biography: Margaret Surber (American, 1913 - 2001) won many awards for her china painting, including three ribbons at the 1963 World's Fair in Seattle. She was the president of the International China Painting Teachers Association. She also wrote several books about how to paint on porcelain.
