Another beautiful hand-painted, one-of-a-kind porcelain item by Master China Painter, Margaret Surber. She has painted a summer landscape scene with a winding road and a pond with an old mill beside it. The platter, trimmed with 24kt gold highlights, measures 24 1/2" x 9 3/4" and is signed and dated 1982, near the bottom right side. It has a green stamp on the bottom: Lorenz Hutschenreuther; Germany; lion in circle with LHR, circa 1970s. The condition of the platter is excellent with no chips, cracks or damage. Note: This porcelain is safe for use but it is strongly recommended that you do not put it in dishwasher.
Partial Biography: Margaret Surber (American, 1913 - 2001) won many awards for her china painting, including three ribbons at the 1963 World's Fair in Seattle. She was the president of the International China Painting Teachers Association. She also wrote several books about how to paint on porcelain.
