This is another beautiful hand-painted, one-of-a-kind porcelain item by Master China Painter, Margaret Surber. On a white background, she has painted natural shells on both sides of the platter. The platter, delicately trimmed with 24kt gold highlights, measures 22 1/2" x 9 1/2". The dish is signed near the shells on the right side. It has a green stamp on the bottom: Hutschenreuther-Selb; Germany; lion in circle with LHS. The condition of the platter is excellent with no chips, cracks or damage. Note: This porcelain is safe for use but it is strongly recommended that you do not put it in dishwasher.
Partial Biography: Margaret Surber (American, 1913 - 2001) won many awards for her china painting, including three ribbons at the 1963 World's Fair in Seattle. She was the president of the International China Painting Teachers Association. She also wrote several books about how to paint on porcelain.
