Biography: The uni-directional brush stroke over a roughly textured canvas has become Stan Robinson's own trademark. This is as familiar to Robinson art lovers as the subjects he paints, North Carolina's Outer Banks and themes from the bible. Whether he is depicting a ship at sea or a child discovering a sand crab on the beach, his style is the same...bold, intense, brimming with life and vitality. One moment moody and restless as the sea itself and then can change to be as serene as dawn's first glimmer over a sea of silver grass. While the artist's moods may differ from subject to subject, his message is always clear. Life is an endless wonder, a precious gift from a magnificent Creator to His creation. In capturing God's gift to us through his paintings, Stan Robinson finds fulfillment for his own soul and brings the beholder a little closer to the truth of his message. Stan Robinson's art background has been as diversified as the subjects he paints. A graduate of the New York – Phoenix School of Design in New York City, he worked as an art director for a New York art studio then went free lance. In 1967 he and his wife moved to North Carolina. His work hangs in the South Carolina Museum of Art in Columbia, SC and the Museum of the Albemarle in NC. In 1973, Stan was commissioned by the Bank of NC to paint a 1,000 square foot mural in the Winston Salem bank. The mural depicted scenes from Old Salem. He illustrated a children's book entitled "Zeeb and Zebb" by Dr. Jerry Connelly. Born in 1927 in Boston, Massachusetts, Stan Robinson died in 1999 in North Carolina.
