On a background of mottled pale green she has painted a fall scene with acorns and autumn colored leaves. An elaborate 24kt gold handle and highlights, complements this stunning piece. The pitcher measures 13 1/2" x 6" x 5", it is signed and dated, 1999, beneath the handle. The condition of the pitcher is excellent with no chips, cracks or damage.
Margaret Surber (American, 1913 - 2001) won many awards for her china painting, including three ribbons at the 1963 World's Fair in Seattle. She was the president of the International China Painting Teachers Association. She also wrote several books about how to paint on porcelain.
