A rare and amazing Victorian aesthetic silver plate picture frame featuring a bevy of birds along its edges, which include Flamingos, Ducks and Herons, all pressed outwards (along with the flora) giving the scene a 3-D effect. While the front is completely silver plated the small Ducks on the bottom are a light gold color, which adds a touch of whimsy to the scene. The frame fits into a wood backing that is covered with flocked, almost velvet material, while the stand is hinged. The frame is nicely sized at 11 1/8 inches by 9 1/8 inches and is 1 inch wide inclusive of the board. It is marked PLAT on the bottom. It shows its age via dents along the edges and tarnishing, as well as two small splits in the metal; one on the top seam (2/8 of an inch) and another on the bottom seam (3/8 of an inch) that are not apparent, I found them only when holding the piece up to the light. (Please see pics). The frame is quite heavy and well made. If you love it, don't lose it, you're not likely to ever see another.
