A pair of Parrot or Lovebird bookends from Germany, each hand carved from wood and stoically staring from glass eyes. Their plinth and back are cleverly crafted in the shape of books while each has roughened paper on the bottom to protect your furniture. The duo were likely made in the Black Forest region of Germany in the 1920s or 1930s and show their age via scratches and light and dark areas. One Bird has a scrape on his beak (I asked but he won't say) and also has a scrape on his cheek. Each measures about 4 inches in length, 3 inches in width, and 5 inches tall and have a nice weight for their size. Both are marked Germany on the back base although it is very hard to see. These guys are old and look it which is definitely part of their charm, a tamer of tomes times two!
