A whimsical and wonderful pair of vintage Crown Ducal vases from England featuring Bee Eater birds and Dragonflies on the front and Butterflies on the back, all amid pine boughs. Created in the 1920s the vases are a true set with the pattern facing opposite directions, and although very similar the colors and contrast are different on each as are their sizes. They are rather large with one measuring 10.75 inches tall while the other is 10.5 inches and one 6 inches in diameter at the top while the smaller is 5 6/8 inches. They are old and look it with age crazing throughout, discolorations both inside and out, rubs to the top edge, and one has a crack on the bottom underside which is not so apparent from the top (see pics). All this seems to lend to their charm rather than detract from it and their pastel coloring only enhances their beauty. Both are marked Crown Ducal Ware, England on the bottom, a mark they began using in 1920 but discontinued in the 1930s. Both are made of pottery, quite sturdy, and certain to bring you function and fascination in the years to come.
