A prodigious planter to be sure with a pair of commanding Cockatoos that soar to a height 11.25 inches and have a wingspan of 11.5 inches (and in case you’re interested they are 6.5 inches wide). Made of ceramic and finished in a shiny, white glaze the pair were created by Maddux of California in 1959 and are so marked on the bottom. The back reveals a well for your plants and another well that tells the tale of two ‘Toos, for it’s obvious some of these were made into TV lamps by the factory, although this one was not. The Parrots survived the years unscathed but the branch on the left has a chip (see pic) that because of their coloring blends rather nicely. Besides being wide they are also weighty – four pounds all by their lonesome – and have wonderful detail. Large and lovely to be sure, prepare to be pleased the moment they’re unwrapped.
