Flying in from circa 1950 is this fun and fanciful compact from Elgin American featuring a duo of Blackbirds on the front frolicking among leaves. Done in gold tone with a plastic (possibly celluloid) inset under the design the compact opens via a button on the front. Inside a mirror and door are revealed and further exploration yields a puff with Elgin American stamped on it. The compact measures 2.75" squared and is .25" thick. It is in unused condition but does show its age via white marks on the bottom and sides in the celluloid (see pics), wear long the front and on the back, and a water stain on the (unused) puff. It will come to you in its original velvet sleeve and with its original promotional booklet. A fab find for lovers of both compacts and birds that's not only useful but tasteful.
