A rare pewter rendering from 1980's Germany featuring a Hobby Falcon perched atop a stump. The piece is affixed to a pewter base and a brass plaque on the front naming the bird in German, Latin and English completes the tableau. Well designed and hand painted the bird measures 2 1/8" tall while the base is 3". Besides the plaque it is also marked "Nach Zeichnung von John Gould (1804-1881) Modellert und Gegossen Haefelin - Zinnoffizin" which translates to "'After a drawing by John Gould (1804-1881) modeled and cast by tin workshop". Originally issued at about $30.00 (40 DM) in the early 80's you'll find the miniature to be in good condition with a little wear to the black paint (see pic). Be sure to search for others in the series as well if you have an interest.
