A one-of-a-kind piece of artistic expression from Europe during the Victorian era in the form of a horseshoe shaped olive wood frame decorated with hand painting, cut-outs, and inlaid Swallows. It still contains a photo of the object of the artist's affection and has Ricordo painted along the top, which means “fond remembrance”. The stand on the back is hinged and the picture is held in via swiveling metal pieces. The frame measures 10" in length and is 6 3/8" wide, while the picture area is approx. 3.5" long and 2 1/8" wide. The frame is in good condition for its age with a couple of scrapes near the top and another on the bottom right, while the black paint on the inlay is starting to dull. The back is marked "The Grand Studio Photographers and Dealers, Valletta, Malta" (an island off the coast of Italy). Whether your love is birds, horse themed items or the rare and unique you've certainly found it in this piece!
