From the Victorian era we bring you this lovely and elegant antique quadruple silver plate plate cake basket sporting a bird and butterfly motif among flowers in its center. Made by the Wilcox Silver Plate Company of Meriden, CT in the 1870s, the design is hand engraved and the edges somewhat scalloped. The tray rests atop four beautifully designed feet and has a handle above. Measuring 10.25 inches in length, 7.5 inches in width and 8.75 inches in height inclusive of the handle you'll find the piece to be in excellent condition for its age with a few light scratches on the bottom and one minor dent just below the bird's wing that may be original. Aesthetically pleasing and useful as well this museum worthy basket is sure to garner both envy and compliments (and perhaps a cookie and cake or two.....). Perfect for tea parties and fancy feasts and especially lovely during the holidays.
