A very rare antique Cockatoo figurine from Victorian Germany made of porcelain by the Voigt Brothers of Sitzendorf who produced porcelain and figurines in the Meissen style. Hand crafted and painted, the Parrot is deliciously detailed and dramatically posed with wings aloft and neck stretched as if about to preen. Solidly built and weighty, the bird measures 6.75 inches tall, 6 inches in length from wings to crest and has a base diameter of 3.75 inches. It is in extraordinary condition for its age having no damage aside from a glazed over factory flaw chip on the edge of its tail (see pic). It is marked with two blue lines with a third crossed on the bottom indicating it was produced between 1884 and 1900. A truly fantastic figurine that the most advanced collector will appreciate with detail so specific that even the bird's tongue can be seen within the beak. Don't miss it.
