Just in from Paris and ready to adorn and adore is this metal and marble art deco Cockatoo card holder or garniture from the 1930s French artist Gallot. The bird is well detailed and dramatically posed with wings both aloft and separated which makes them perfectly suited to bolster business cards. The Parrot resides atop a genuine marble plinth and is held in place via a screw on the bottom. The piece measures 4 inches in length, just under 3.25 inches in width, is 4.5 inches high and marked Gallot on the side of the bird. It shows its 70 plus years with a small bit of wear to the finish on the Cockatoo and a chip on each of the back edges of the garniture (see pics, due to the veining the chips blend well). The Parrot can also be employed as a paperweight and be pressed into service as a bookend. A delightfully Deco multi-tasker, how can you resist?
