This is an incredible, unopened vintage face powder container from Bulgaria featuring a Cockatoo on the top and a feather motif along the sides. It is from the 1940's and was made during WWII, specifically during the German occupation of Europe. Though the color is written in Cyrillic, it translates to Rachel, which was used in many parts of the East as a code word for Jew. Even the cosmetic color itself is traced to a Jewish actress on the Paris stage in the early 1800s. Neat, huh? The container is small, measuring 2 inches in diameter and is just under an inch tall. It is in super, like new condition and as mentioned before, unopened. This would be an excellent decorative object for your dresser, or for the brave, an opportunity to wear vintage face powder. (Light pink in color).
