Made during the Depression years but not depressing in the least is this vintage satin glass powder jar with two long-tailed Parakeets serving as the lid's handle and fabulous flowers standing out in relief on both the lid and base. The jar measures 4.5 inches tall and is 5 inches in diameter, large enough for lots of powder and roomy enough for trinkets and jewels. Officially called Parakeets in the Bedroom and Bathroom Glassware of the Depression Years book, the jar has a few flaws as most do of this Era, the largest being a shallow 3/8 inch sliver on the front edge of the lid (see pic) and a smaller one on top of the bottom's edge (cannot be seen when top is on) as well as roughness along the inside edges in areas. No cracks. A gorgeous jar with lots of detail that's perfect for the dresser Diva in you. Betcha love it!
