Here's a vintage Cockatoo Parrot planter from Japan that's loud in quite a different way for what his vocal cords lack his hue makes up for. Made during the 1940s or 50s, this pottery Parrot exhibits some of the inexact painting skills the Japanese were famous for (I guess all the good artists worked at Noritake...) Still, the bird is well formed, detailed and useful, for on his back is a well to hold florals and the like. Birdie measures 7.5 inches high, 4.75 inches long from wing to wing and is 2 7/8 inches wide at his base. He's in good condition with no chips or cracks, just age crazing. Marked Made in Japan on the bottom lest there was any doubt as to where he was hatched up.
