A vintage bisque porcelain hatpin holder from Germany of a Crossbill bird, forever captured in the act of foraging for his favored food, conifer cones. This handsome hanger is not only amusing but useful, too, for his stump sports two holes on the back for hatpins, although one needs to be a bit petite to fit under his tail (and keep from tickling!) Bill, as he's known to his friends, is hand painted in somewhat realistic hues and is in excellent condition. Measures 4.25 inches tall and is 1.75 inches at his base. Marked with a logo on the bottom that identifies his hometown as Thuringia, Germany and having been created by the parent company Unterweissbach Workshops for Porcelain Art Ltd.
