Great granny loved to attend church every Sunday morning...and she loved to sing songs of worship. This little old song book has a copyright date of 1881, and has seen a lot of Sunday mornings! This sweet early hymnal measures 7" x 5.50" and shows quite a bit of wear, but the binding is still intact and the graphics are absolutely awesome! I just love these early song books because the graphics are so detailed and intricate....the artwork is amazing! On the cover, it shows that the book originally cost 35 cents. The book was published by Biglow & Main, Successors to Wm. B. Bradbury. The publishers were at 76 East 8th St. in New York and also located at 81 Randolph St. in Chicago. Even with all the wear, this lovely old book has a wonderful sense of simple spirituality that transcends time. The graphics alone makes it a very special book indeed. Inside, it is inscribed in pencil, "Mary M. Rothwell ~ Smyrna, Delaware". Own this book today and display it on a table, in a country cupboard or anywhere in your home! A precious piece of American history from Great granny to you!
