Here's a wonderful old salt glaze stoneware jug with the best orange peel surface....this surface was created when at just the right moment, the potter opened the kiln and scattered salt over the jug. The brown mottled surface goes down into a solid colored salt glaze finish, but one spot didn't "take" the glaze, as shown in photo. The spot is not considered "damage" since it was done during manufacture. Still this is a great looking old jug, even with a few chips on the bottom, that are barely visible when the jug is sitting on a flat surface. The handle and spout are in fine condition with no damage. Measures about 8 ½" tall and 7 ½" in diameter. This jug displays beautifully and would look awesome in your country home décor!
