This is desk item is stunning and has to be seen to appreciate the workmanship of the silversmith who produced it. Repousse design so intricate it must have taken hours and hours. English silversmith mark is H I E but NOTE the middle "I" is larger than the other two letters and I am so surprised I can't find it listed in my source. Anchor for Birmingham, lion passant assay mark, and a small "b" in either a round for 1876 or a shield shape for 1901 (I feel that is the true date). Very few pits and a few little dents on this magnificent piece. Important papers would have been kept in this silver and leather folder - the interior and leather are still in pretty good condition. It measures 12 inches tall by 8 3/4 inches wide and is only an inch thick. The standing eagle on the cartouche is so proud and I will research that to see if I can find the family crest listed. I would have this displayed on a stand - it's beautiful. A gift for that special person. PLEASE NOTE: boxes, stands, and any additional props used for enhancing my listings, are NOT included. If any of these are included, it will be clearly marked. If you are in any doubt, please ask!
