Intricately set in silver, this is a wonderful example of Scottish workmanship from the later half of the 1800s. The agates are so well set that they hardly show any space between silver and stones. Only under magnification did I see a crack in one of the agates so I have priced accordingly. Please note - it will not break away and it is barely noticeable with the naked eye. The brooch is large, full 2 inches across and the center measures 1 inch. Often hair or a picture of a loved one would be inserted in the center of these brooches protected by a little cover. The front is wonderfully shiny, has a "C" clasp on the back and slight wear to the silver due to age. I would consider this for a lady or a gentleman
