This beautiful banded agate brooch is from Scotland and has to be seen to be appreciated; the pictures do not do it justice. It is just shy of four inches in length, the silver bottom of the anchor is 1 3/4 inches wide. The silver is finely engraved and there is a silver lanyard winding around the anchor. The banded agate has been chosen well to highlight the angle of the lanyard. I just can't say enough good things about this piece, very difficult to part with it! There is a minute chip of the left side of the agate at the cross, see picture otherwise amazing for the age. The pin is longer with a "C" clasp as Victorian jewelry should be. Wear as a kilt pin, a brooch or as a pendant - you will love this piece of Scottish history. Queen Victoria loved all things Scottish and Victorians in general had meanings for certain things - the anchor meant Hope. I consider this a Unisex item.
