This is a beautiful traditional Scottish silver brooch from the late 1800s with a 1/2 inch wide Cairngorm stone in the middle. These stones are similar to a citrine or topaz, mined from the Cairngorm mountain range in the north of Scotland. Two pieces of red jasper, and two pieces English bloodstone, sought after by Victorians for its health properties; thought to purify the blood. The brooch measures 1 3/4 ins wide by 1 1/4 ins deep; the silver is heavily engraved and it has a "C" clasp which I think has been repaired a some time but secure. I have earrings listed which would match this and also a magnificent large St Andrews Cross.
