This is a wonderful antique sterling silver repousse powder shaker made for a lady's vanity. It is solid sterling silver, fully hallmarked and dates to the late 1800s. The repousse design of flowers is elaborate and beautifully rendered and covers the entire item. There is a small cartouche on the lid which is monogrammed FLM. Both the lid and the shaker piece under the lid can be easily removed. The shaker piece is designed to allow it to be closed or opened. I have never seen one of these made completely of silver. More often they are cut glass with a sterling lid. This one still retains the scent of the talcum powder it once contained.
It measures 3 1/2 inches and it is about 1 3/4 inches in diameter. It is in lovely condition. There is one small ding to the lid as shown.
