This is a stunning vintage portrait pin in Limoges enamel surrounded by pearls. It depicts a woman in profile facing right. She is wearing a red headscarf or Phrygian cap with an olive wreath - possibly portraying Liberte or Marianne. The pin is oval and is surrounded by cultured pearls. It is in an unmarked gold setting that acid tests to at least 10K. It is exceptionally detailed and quite lovely. I believe that it was originally a part of a necklace or other piece of jewelry since the pin back on the brooch appears to be a later addition and there are small holes on either side of the setting.
The brooch measures 1 1/2 inches by 1 inch and it is in very good condition. There are some scratches on the back of the setting, but I see no other issues.
