This lovely vintage necklace is made up of faceted stones made of iris or rainbow glass. This is not the same as aurora borealis where the color is applied to the surface of the glass. The blue, pink and green color is part of the glass itself. Many of these necklaces were made in England, and I believe that is where this one comes from. Unlike most I've seen the stones are in closed back settings like older rhinestone jewelry. The design of the necklace is very delicate and feminine with three little four stone drops suspended from a single strand of stones. The necklace is on a delicate chain and fastens with a spring ring catch. The silver colored metal is shiny and is probably finished in rhodium.
The necklace measures 18 inches and it is in excellent condition. I have one of these necklaces in my own collection and they go with everything. I always get compliments on mine.
