This gorgeous antique Victorian center bowl is made of amber colored cased satin glass. It has an elaborately crimped and ruffled rim and the interior is decorated with enameled designs of flowers, fruit and in the center, a butterfly. The beautiful amber glass fades to a soft yellow near the center of the bowl. It probably had a silver plated stand or frame at one point (a bride's bowl or basket) and it was intended to serve as a centerpiece with fruit. It is marked in the polished pontil Kl 269. I have not been able to identify this mark. It seems most likely that it was made in Europe (Bohemia or Austria). This is one of the loveliest examples of Victorian art glass that I have ever seen.
It measures 11 inches in diameter and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs to the glass. There is an expected amount of wear to the bottom.
