This wonderful vintage Art Deco vase, made by the French company Longwy, is beautifully decorated with a crackle glaze and stylized flowers in pointed panels. It has a narrow neck colored deep red and red glaze outlines the floral panels. The crackle glaze on the body is a cream color. The flowers are yellow and orange on a blue background and there is a band of blue around the bottom of the vase. The vibrant colors are typical of Longwy. It has the Longwy mark ink stamped on the bottom as well as an impressed number, most likely a model number. There are also some other ink stamped numbers that I don't know the significance of.
Longwy pottery was started in a Carmelite monastery in 1798. They made art pottery into the early part of the 20th century. With the onset of World War II they ceased production and though the company remained in business they never went back to making art pottery. This vase dates to the 1920s.
The vase is about 6 inches tall and about 4 inches across the widest part. It is in excellent condition. I don't see any chips, cracks or repairs. There are some minor glaze skips typical of pieces like this.
