This is an unusual antique Edwardian ladies reticule or evening bag made of black kid leather and decorated with silver beads. It is a drawstring pouch style bag. The leather is what we would call nubuck or very smooth suede. It is very nicely made and the silver bead decoration is striking. The bag is in a pouch form and comes to a point in the middle. The beads are used to trim all of the edges of the bag. Across the center and bottom there is elaborate looped bead fringe. It has a drawstring mechanism to keep it closed and the cords end with leather circles also trimmed in beads. There are snap closures on both sides of the back which open to small exterior sections.
It dates to around the early Twentieth century and would be a wonderful addition to a collection or a Steampunk ensemble.
All in all, it is very unusual and well constructed. It is in excellent condition, and seems to have seen only very gentle use.
