This is an outstanding Tom Thumb Junior Typewriter with the Original Box and Instructions.
This is an earlier model typewriter in the toy version, which can be hard to find. It was made pre-1964 and the red body is plastic along with the white space bar and white turn knobs. The one-piece keyboard, roller, bail, bottom and inner workings are metal. The original box is printed in red and blue on white, and it states it is a Model 1602. The original instruction sheet is also included.
The typewriter base measures about 10 ¼" by 7 ½" and it is 4 ¼" tall. It weighs about 2 ½ pounds, including the box.
Condition: it appears to be complete; no cracks or dings to the plastic or metal; inside the bottom panel has some rust; the spacebar is a bit sticky but the keyboard pad seems to work fine. It would probably benefit from a cleaning and oiling of the mechanism. The box is excellent, with no tears or weak corners. The instruction sheet is a bit rumpled and has a pink stain on it.
This is such a fun piece! It would be a fun addition to a toy collection or even an office equipment collection! It brings back such wonderful childhood memories, so don't miss this one!
