5 Vintage Coats & Clark Zipper Package Advertising Containers with Buttons.
This is a group of 5 plastic boxes that originally held Coats & Clark zippers. The boxes have labels on the top and bottom, touting the “Crown Trouble Free” zippers on one side and the size and color on the reverse side. They are all marked Made in U.S.A.
Each box currently holds an assortment of buttons, including faux pearl, rhinestones, fabric covered, flat and shank style, and a couple shapes other than round. There are also a few pieces of jewelry mixed in with the buttons.
They all measure about 2 1/8” across. One is 1 1/2” tall, while the other four are 1 1/8” tall.
Condition: minor fading/scuffs on the paper labels; one of the gold labels has almost completely lost the wording on the banner across the front; no chips; a couple of the short containers have a single, minor 1/8” crack on the side, and the tall one has a single crack along the full side in one spot.
This fun set of early advertising holds a treasure hunt for the lucky buyer! Homemakers of decades past didn’t throw anything away, and the thrifty seamstress who bought the 5 zippers that were in these containers used them to sort buttons and small baubles. We are lucky enough to enjoy sorting through those items today!
