Wannopee Pottery Candle Holder
This is a huge Wannopee Pottery candlestick with a lovely streaked and mottled brown, green and gold glaze. It has a graceful shape with a very wide base and a tall body that has a wrap-around twist design. The large open handle has the same twist pattern. The top has a built-in bobeche formed by the cupped rim around the opening.
The Wannopee Pottery was formed in 1892 in New Milford Connecticut and was closed in 1903. Some, but not all, of their wares were marked.
It is unmarked and it is circa 1892-1903. It measures about 12 ¼ tall and 3 ¼” across the top. The bottom is 8” across and it weighs about 2 ¾ pounds.
Condition: it has no chips, cracks or crazing. There are a couple minor glaze flaws that do not detract.
This is a beautiful, substantial example from this famed pottery. It will coordinate with most room decors. Don’t miss the opportunity to add a functional and pretty piece to your collection or purchase an ideal gift for a favorite collector!
