Antique Chicago Leather Donkey Telephone Postcard.
This postcard shows a donkey or burro mother with a nursing baby, with a man and woman using the donkey’s ears and tail like a phone. The caption reads “Hello Central, Give Me 711!” and “Ring Off, The Line Is Busy!”. “Chicago” is written at the top. Postmarked in 1907, this was during the very early days of telephone use.
Condition: minor edge and corner wear; some general dirt from age; leather still supple; postmark ink on front; no creases or tears.
This is a fun postcard for collectors who like the early leather series, as well as telephone collectors! Don’t miss the opportunity to add it to your set!
