Hudson Fulton Celebration 1909 Postcard.
This antique embossed postcard is a souvenir of a spectacular two-week celebration of two significant events related to the Hudson River and water transportation in New York.
1909 saw the 300th anniversary of Henry Hudson discovering the Hudson River and navigating its waters in his sailing ship The Half Moon. Also celebrated was the 100th anniversary of Robert Fulton’s invention of the paddle wheel boat.
The celebration included flyovers by Wilbur Wright, a nautical parade and electrical lighting! It must have been a marvel to see.
Condition: minor edge and corner wear and scuffs; creases on the two bottom corners; no tears; postmarked 1909.
What a great piece for a history buff, boating, navigation, NYC memorabilia collector or a postcard aficionado! Don’t miss this opportunity!
