This is a lovely EAPG Ripley Handled Cake Basket.
It is a large piece with an octagonal, ribbed rim. The bottom of the bowl has a 'diamond point' type pattern in the shape of an 8-point star, and the star points line up with the points on the rim. The hollow pedestal repeats the diamond point design with a ribbed area below it. The edge of the foot is ribbed on the underside.
The metal bail handle is attached securely with bolts and it swings back and forth, resting on the rim when folded down.
Unmarked, it was made by the Ripley Glass Company, ca. 1890’s. It measures about 6 ½" tall, 8 ¾" across the rim and 4 ½" across the foot.
Excellent Condition: no cracks, nicks, heavy scratches or chips. There are a few minor manufacturing flaws like some completely embedded bubbles and a malformed steak on the side of the bowl, but nothing that detracts from the pattern.
This magnificent piece would be a terrific addition to any holiday table or EAPG collection. We have a superb assortment of vintage goodies, so please take a look at our other offerings. We would be pleased to combine shipping on multiple purchases.
