Vintage Sterling Silver Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Native American Mohawk Dimensional Pin Brooch.
Saint Kateri Tekakwitha was a young Native American Mohawk woman who converted to Catholicism in the 1600s and this pin is a vintage, hand crafted memorial to her. She is known as The Lily of the Mohawks and is the patron saint of Native Americans and the environment.
The pin is constructed on a flat sterling plane with a rope-edged ‘well’ and decorative beads at the top and bottom. In the well is a picture of Saint Kateri, two beads and a couple short thorny plant branches. These all have significance to her life. The center well is filled with a clear resin material, leaving the 2 beads and 2 thorns partially protruding above the surface.
It is marked “925” and height measures about 2 ¼” and the width is about 1”.
Condition: no chips or cracks in the surface; nice patina.
This is a unique find for a collector of Native American jewelry or items related to Saint Kateri. It is a large, yet classically styled piece that is sure to garner a great deal of attention.
