Vintage Techno Steampunk Style Pin Brooch.
The unique construction of this brooch features a bar with a kilt style pin on the back, two different style chains that drape across at different lengths, a 3-dimensional sphere or ball charm and two stamped metal faux watch face charms. Each ‘watch’ charm is enameled, one with white and one black, and both are reading the same time – about 8:18.
It is unmarked and we estimate it to be ca. 1980, when the Steampunk style enjoyed a surge in popularity. The bar at the top is 2 ¼” across and the longest chain drapes down almost 2 ½” from the bar when the pin is worn.
Condition: no missing pieces, bends, dents or breaks; minor use scratches on the enamel; a nice patina.
This piece has a romantic appeal yet it also holds true to the mechanical engineering look that the Steampunk movement held in high esteem. Because the watch faces are stamped metal and lightweight, it makes it quite easy to wear.
