Whimsical 1989 Deirdre Donchian Sterling Silver and Copper Fish Brooch.
This is an unusual and hand crafted dimensional brooch. It has a picture frame look, with a zigzag edge, a copper frame and a copper fish mounted on a blue and green ‘ocean’ background. It has a rollover clasp.
Deirdre Donchian is a native of New York and she attended the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design. She has long been an active member of the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen and she still produces jewelry as well as ornamental pieces. This pin is one of her early pieces, hand signed and dated 1989.
The pin is about 1 5/8” across and 1 3/8” high. It is hand signed “Donchian, 1989, .925”
Excellent Condition: no bends, cracks or damage; the pinback is well attached and works well.
This is a rare, early example of Deirdre’s work. It has an artful whimsy, but is still a functional piece of wearable art, so don’t miss this opportunity!
